Incorporating sports and design in our home can be hard but skateboarder Manuel Llorens and his interior designer wife made it possible with the lovely Skate-Home Skateboard Furniture designs they made. Lamps do not only provide warm and elegant illumination but also bring style and elegance to our home especially if it comes with a clean and sleek design like what we can see with the Cocoon Lamp. The Cocoon Lamp is a uniquely designed lamp inspired of course by a cocoon.

While the caterpillars use their larvae in creating the cocoon, a liquid called photopolymer is used in creating the cocoon lamp. The liquid is then applied with the use of nozzles and hardened through Ultraviolet Light. All these methods are made possible with the help of the PolyJet technology.

The lamp is sturdy and rigid enough for daily use. Thanks to VeroWhite, a hard material that does not only make the lamp sturdy but also it has the reflective surface that provides added illumination into the space.

If the VeroWhite made the lamp rigid and sturdy, the TangoBlackPlus on the other hand protects the lamp’s surface whilst creating an elegant and eye-catching color contrast. In addition, the lamp also has a special fitting on its lower end where one can connect the holding element. With the fitting around, one can have the cocoon lamp connected to the mounting element.

You will definitely be amazed on how the lamp is being produced or rather printed. The entire cocoon lamp is designed completely using 3D CAD programs. All of the materials used in the lamp and the whole lamp itself is printed in 3D in one shot by what we earlier mentioned, Objet Polyjet Technology. What made it the best lamp in your home is that, each lamp is custom built, or shall we say, custom printed. Therefore, what you can have in your home is unique from everybody else.

The process in making the Cocoon lamp only shows the importance of modern technology in the future of home design.
