Jewel of Kahana House, Beachside in Maui, Hawaii
The seven bedroom, seven bathroom ‘Jewel of Kahana’ house sits oceanfront in West Maui, Hawaii, on ½ acre of land. Amongst the palm trees, this stunning home is approximately 9,000 Sq. Ft, constructed with an abundance of windows and walls of glass that disappear into the bordering rock walls, allowing every bit of the ocean views to be soaked up.

A pool surrounds the homes patio on two sides, edged with irregular stonework for a natural look, with mini waterfalls cascading over the rocks at one end, and a spa.

Rustic stone feature walls are offset with sunny orange tones and sophisticated furniture.

When you have had enough of the pool and the sun is setting, an extensive games room with pool, games tables and even a home sports bar awaits you inside the property.

An extensive dining area houses two table sets, and the kitchen island alone seats ten people; this is certainly a house for entertaining.

A beautiful mezzanine bedroom gets its views high above the grand living area with huge open kitchen, and a separate enclosed butler’s kitchen.

Each bedroom is an oceanfront master suite with views of neighboring island Lanai and glimpses of Molokai. The rooms, complete with luxurious bath and wet bar, are accessorized with seashells to bring the beach scene indoors, and furnishings are simple but sumptuous with plush headboards and flat screen TVs.

The space is decorated in colors influenced by nature, fresh green and sea blue teamed with rich wood, and light marble floors reminiscent of a white sandy beach.

Complete with 529 Sq. Ft. Guest Home, with one bedroom and one bathroom, this home is on the market for a cool ,900,000.

The Ghost Writer Movie House
The movie set of The Ghost Writer (released as The Ghost in the United Kingdom) is a stunning beach house in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts with sleek Walter Knoll interior in a deep muted color palette, but as this was just a set, this dream house remains just a dream; in fact, the movie was not even filmed in America due to the fact that the notorious cult director Roman Polanski was not allowed to enter the country.
The political thriller stars Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kim Cattrall and Olivia Williams, but the star of the movie for us was the fictional Prime Minister’s estate. For exterior location shots of the imposing modernist building, a façade was built at Usedom, Germany, and the plush interior shots were done on sets constructed at Babelsberg.

During the day shots the fortress of a house was flooded with sunlight via large windows framing serene views, illustrating the isolated location of the home. The colors of the landscape bleed into the dramatic interior, and the use of natural textures fuse the inside and outside spaces.

At nightfall the Lang’s estate is a luxurious haven bathed in soft lighting, transforming into a scene of sophisticated comfort.

Splashes of color splice the interior in the form of large art canvases, evoking the ambience of a modern art gallery.

Fan of black and white? We have put together a collection of rooms that show off how a monochrome color palette can be a striking scheme for your home.
To keep a room feeling big and bright, allow light to bounce around the walls by choosing a stark white paint, and introduce black accents via furniture and accessories.

Via Proyecta 3D Studio
To add a little more punch, try adding wall panels in black, or brown-black materials, a wall mounted entertainment unit is a great option as it will also blend a dark flat screen TV in with the design.

With a simple color palette you can go bold with pattern and eye catching design.

Floors look equally great in light glossy tones and rich dark notes when furniture is kept light, but avoid matching too many dark elements together as you may find the overall look a little oppressive.

If you later decide that you would like to lift your interior with a little color, you have the perfect basis on which to do it, because quite literally anything goes with a scheme like this. Try pops of aqua blue for a cool contemporary look, or warm the room up with rich red elements.

Carrara House by Andres Remy Arquitectos
The beautiful Carrara House in Pilar, Argentina, was designed by Andres Remy Arquitectos; the home stands two stories high with the walls constructed almost entirely of huge windows that bathe the interior in bright natural light, and let the outside positively flood in.

The seating area also looks out through a low window, reminiscent of a fireplace, towards the entrance steps; we guess in an open sociable space like this, it’s probably useful to keep an eye out for approaching feet of party guests!

To continue the inside-outside feel, the architect has included a decorative indoor pool as part of a large yet understated water feature which reflects an adjacent pool out on the patio; a waterfall against a transparent pane of glass cascades all the way from the second floor, where the ceiling is cut away to reveal the upper living space, and a row of plants breathe greenery into the home, reflecting the garden beyond.

One of the three dining areas of this home floats in the stark white living space, where diners can enjoy the garden and pool views, whilst a lounge area with modern chairs in a warm pop of red provides an area to retire and enjoy the interior waterfall as the evening draws in.

A monochrome contemporary bedroom is lifted with a splash of red.

Rendered Minimalist Spaces by Rafael Reis
These clean renders by Rafael Reis show minimalist designs where the contents of the home blend with the surroundings, with palettes of pale neutrals only giving way to a few select accessories. The CGI layouts show wide open plan spaces that are bathed in light by huge floor to ceiling windows, with views of the city beyond.

The furniture is kept simple and functional, and a series of concrete block walls brings a utilitarian feel to the space.

A leather recliner chair paired with footstool creates a zone in which relax with a choice from the vast book collection from the bank of extensive floating shelves.

The casually arranged personal items prevent the place from appearing over staged and instead creates a pleasant lived in look, whilst the glow from the concealed strip lighting gives the large space a feeling of warmth.

Glossy finishes add to the contemporary luxury in this sophisticated room.

Islands of comfort are created with huge rugs.

A monochrome look gives this kitchen strong lines, so the dining area and over table lighting have been kept simple to prevent the two areas from clashing.

Contemporary Architecture and Interiors, by Xoio
Take a look at this curvy contemporary architecture and stunning modern interiors, designed by the team at Berlin based company Xoio, a professional supplier on the German market for creative 3D images and animations. We have put together a small sample of images from their portfolio.

This stunning piece of modern architecture takes on a space age look, with huge windows that follow the curve of the walls, giving the building a thin picture frame edge.

A large sun deck protrudes forward like the bow of a ship, making you feel as though you are on a holiday cruise.

This contemporary music room looks out of dual aspect curved windows, upon an abundance of nature; simply breathtaking.

A colorful modern living space scattered with fun elements and splashes of vibrant color.

A large white office space is given a warm homely feel with a deep shag pile carpet underfoot.

A nature inspired master bedroom, complete with mossy headboard and leafy fireplace surround. The soft natural elements are offset by an impressive block structure that surrounds the head of the bed, extruding to form two bedside units, accessorized with contemporary typographical rug and modern chandelier.

An industrial air is added to this modern living room with the exposure of a concrete wall, which stretches up two stories to a mezzanine level with glass balustrade.

Formal living space with stunning garden views.

Fun family space with retro styling.

This bright white kitchen diner with access to a private sun patio has a homely feel, with friendly artwork and sweet shelf arrangements.

A vast living room houses blue knitted furniture and coordinating modern art, and floor to ceiling bookshelves are filled with colorful entries. Circular rugs pick out two different seating areas on the large floor space, breaking the room into useful segments. An entire wall of glass looks out onto a garden view.

A formal dining room takes on a Zen-like approach.

Creative Fireplace Designs
There are many solutions when it comes to the installation of a state-of-the-art fireplace, and this range from Acquaefuoco is worth a browse. The collection stands out with its use of innovative forms – not something you might expect from a typical fireplace!
They offer an interesting selection, ranging from a transparent dual aspect piece that can sit in the centre of a floor, to wall mounted and shelf amalgamated creations. The ‘Flame’ range (which is of a shape that actually reminds us more of a teardrop) spans the spectrum with a floor standing version that you can see straight through, and smaller versions to be situated on a wall; these elegantly shaped fireplaces come in a range of colors too, so you can choose to either blend your fireplace with your décor, or make a bigger statement.

We love the idea of multiples on a long wall, it’s fabulously effective and will generate heat more evenly through the room.

This gorgeous circular fireplace is reminiscent of a porthole window.

If you are planning to have a fireplace up on your wall, then how about a shelf mounted piece like this?

The new shapes in this collection are a nice change from the influx of letterbox designs we’ve had in recent years.

Villa Escudero with the Waterfalls Restaurant
Villa Escudero is located in Quezon Province, Philippines, offering a vast hacienda filled with comfortable rooms, and a museum of curious things. Perhaps the most curious thing at the villa is the amazing Waterfalls Restaurant, where lunch is served against an impressive backdrop of thundering clear spring water. Grass fringed buffet stations and bamboo dining tables stand steadily in just inches of flowing river water from the sparkling falls, as it washes around the feet of diners enjoying delicious local dishes.
The experience of dining as water is running over your feet would certainly create a memorable holiday moment, and possibly one of your most unusual experiences ever, as they boast this “is a truly singular and memorable experience only Villa Escudero can offer.”

The rest of Villa Escudero is equally nature bathed, with stunning views from bamboo decks overlooking the still waterscape of Lake Labasin, and the tropical Philippine countryside.

The luxury resort offers the chance to paddle a native bamboo raft over the peaceful waters or, if you’d like to get back on dry land for a while, a tour of the rural village by jeepney; you can even learn how coconuts are harvested in Villa Escudero’s own plantation!

Yellow Room Inspiration: 55+ Rooms For Your Viewing Pleasure
If you are looking for a burst of sunshine in your interiors, then take a look at this beaming collection of yellow room reference, to try throughout your home. (Warning:This is quite a large post!)
To add a cheerful ray to your living room you could start subtly with accessories, cushions and throws, artwork, or perhaps a small accent chair or decorative screen, but if you wanted to go all out on the theme, paint a large accent wall in a vibrant shade or even have a sofa reupholstered. Of course, there are many shades to choose from, if a bright primary yellow is too overpowering for you, a lemon sherbet may be more calming on the eye.
