Incorporating sports and design in our home can be hard but skateboarder Manuel Llorens and his interior designer wife made it possible with the lovely Skate-Home Skateboard Furniture designs they made. With their creative minds and love for skateboarding, they were able to create various pieces like a bench, wall décor, shelves and more. Looking at the photos, they all looked elegant enough to be in your modern homes. They can be matched seamlessly with your modern furniture pieces, décor and interior design theme.

The bench looks sturdy enough for both indoor and outdoor use. It comes with a soft-looking back and seat cushion and is available in different colors of red, green, white, black and more.

The idea of creating beautiful furniture out of skateboards started when the couple is looking for a bookshelf to buy for their kids but of to no avail. They have then decided to build one, started to combine their old-skateboard decks and come up with their first shelf.

After the success of their first skateboard furniture, they then find themselves creating other furniture pieces.
With their wonderful creation, the couple was able to unite their passions, skateboarding and interior design. The Skate-Home Skateboard Furniture will not only be a lovely furniture for your home but an eco-friendly one too, if they were to build it with old skateboard decks.

Casa dos Ipês in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was a project embarked upon a decade ago by Marcio Kogan, a design of exposed concrete that many builders deemed practically impossible. The heavy material has been given amazing grace in this construction, with the magnitude appearing to float above the glass volume of the lower floor.

In the upper mass, bedrooms surround a central TV room, and receive light via a wooden panel on the façade that is broken into shutters. Both thermally and aesthetically pleasing, when closed these shutters maintain the solid box like appearance of the upper floor, contributing to the elegance of the lower quarters.

Downstairs the living room accesses the veranda and garden via doors that retract almost the entire length of the building, and a huge set of pivoting wooden panels open up the side, making the living area an outdoor space.

A colossal bespoke sofa divides the room, with one side facing in toward TV and fireplace, and the other firmly facing the patio and pool.

The rich wood continues into the interior, which is simple and contemporary, containing banks of shelving and entertainment units. The backdrop is sophisticated, whilst tiny gems of color and quirkiness are scattered throughout in the form of accent chairs, lights and occasional tables.

Now that 2011 has drawn to a close, there are a few interior design trends that stand out to me as memorable, especially as they’ll have an influential effect going in to 2012. Here’s what I noticed:

If you have the Ludovico By Claudio Sibille, you will never get worried of your space, ever again. With the Ludovico, you can easily have your dining or study table and two chairs hidden in a snap.

Wonder how the hiding happens? The Ludovico is a unique furniture design by Claudio Sibille that can work as your storage furniture with the drawers it has. On the other hand, it also has the lines that are made intentionally for the chairs to fit in. If you are not using your tables and chairs, simply have them placed on their designated places on the furniture and have them fixe as if you are completing a jigsaw puzzle.

Once you are done, you will see only a single piece of furniture and that is a storage cabinet with drawers in it. The chairs when attached created an image of four additional little drawers.

The drawers’ and chairs’ handles are made of aluminum, which created a perfect, elegant contrasts to its eucalyptus grandis finger joint material. We love this cool, contemporary interior model, by specialist furniture and interior architecture consultants at Grand Design, Vietnam. The breathtaking views at the floor to ceiling windows of this villa are coastal city Nha Trang, capital of Khanh Hoa, known for its pristine beaches and fantastic scuba diving.

Whilst artwork has been used to add interest to the laid back simplicity of the white walls, the neutral palette in this space allows the seascape beyond the glass to remain the focal point, with the furniture arranged to take in its beauty. The cool tones are perfect to create a relaxing environment in a hot Vietnamese climate, and simple lines, reflective surfaces, and hard floors bounce light around the open layout.

Generous white drapery frames the large windows and softens the modern space, luxurious yet clean and uncomplicated. Elements of dark wood add warmth and depth to an otherwise bleached scheme, whilst unusual light shades and accessories bring texture and personality. Large rugs form islands of comfort, and define living areas, whilst a split-level floor allows every opportunity to appreciate the panorama.
