Jaw-droppingly Gorgeous Bathrooms That Combine Vintage With Modern
These wonderful bathroom designs made us gasp! Irina Schastlivaya can make bathrooms look like works of art, simply by using patterns on tiles. The patterns are not too in-your-face and by that making the space appear even smaller and cluttered – they are unnoticable, at first, but add a whole new dimension to what would easily be a boring bathroom. She always slips one or two eye-catching details that make the space feel inviting. Golden handles or thin golden tiles, ambient lighting cleverly distributed throughout the room that create a warm, inviting atmosphere… as if she knows just exactly what every bathroom should feel like! Scroll on to see some truly amazing work from a gifted artist.

When it comes to combining vintage and modern, that’s a job that is quite tricky if you’re not a genuine professional. It can look abruptly put together, and even clashing. But it seems to us that this designer passed yet another test – just look what she did with this warm, luxurious bathroom which combines modern furniture in a strong colour, with strong patterns and decors on the tiles and the glass doors. Who would say that halogen lights above the mirror go so well with vintage patterns on these voluptuous red tiles?

Now, with slightly bigger bathrooms, the designer gave herself room for over-doing it. Painting the pipes in a rich gold colour, choosing to clash warm toned tiles with cooler toned ones, or mixing patterns all over the place, we feel that when it comes to these designs, it becomes a question of taste. Some people may like the Moroccan feel of the blueish-cream bathroom, and some may find it to be too much. To some, marble is cold and slippery, hence impractical, and don’t think that it’s the best choice for a bathroom floor, but those who like luxury and a vintage feel in their bathrooms should enjoy these upcoming photographs. We find them very interesting and wonderful! Especially the ones, where she combines dark wood with different tiles!

Sam Hughes Lampshade Is Vintage Fabric Made Yet Very Stylish
I also really want to make some elegant design for our home and this Sam Hughes Lampshade inspires me a lot. If you were to look at this lovely lampshade, you would initially think it’s expensive but no it certainly not.

The Sam Hughes Lamp Shade is handmade and is made of vintage fabric. Presumably, this vintage fabric can be your old clothing or unused piece of cloth. On the other hand, if you do not have the talent of crafting things like me, purchasing one would be our best bet. This lovely lampshade from Sam Hughes is available in retro patch, blue geo, dog rose, and blue nouveau floral.

Modern Vintage Apartment Oozes Luxury
Moscow-based interior decorators, Geometrix have done it again. They have stumped us with this modern-vintage, black and white luxury apartment, decked out with Marilyn Monroe prints on the walls that evoke the 1950′s era, but with modern black and white decor. We have featured their work once before on Home-Designing, of a futuristic and also, black and white apartment. In contrast this abode has nothing futuristic about it. One might say this could be a perfect fit for a 1950′s celebrity like Marilyn or a modern-day one with a love for old Hollywood glamour.

Vintage Guitar Price Guide Default
So really when we talk about guitar lessons for kids, although we are focusing on young people, we can include the not quite so young as well.
The desire to play a musical instrument is probably deep rooted in us all. However kids are not constrained by time, energy or cost in the same way that their parents are and so they want to do everything and they want to do it now, and why shouldn’t they?
Music is a universal medium that is enjoyed and always has been enjoyed the world over. So when the desire to participate in music and to learn to play an instrument is expressed by a youngster then it is right to encourage and help them where ever possible.
With the guitar being one of the most popular instruments in the world today then, it is not surprising that the question of guitar lessons for kids should arise.
The excitement of choosing and buying your first guitar is as enjoyable for us older kids as it most certainly is for any teenager. The issue that so often comes after this happy event though is that once the initial burst of enthusiasm subsides a frustration moves in as we discover that actually playing this wonderful new guitar isn’t quite as easy as we had thought!
This is where we came in! Guitar lessons for kids, young and not so young.
What options do we have? If we are talking guitar lessons for kids still at school then perhaps there is a resident music teacher at the school giving guitar tuition for free. If there is then that must be as good a place as any to start. If not, then the search goes on to find a local guitar teacher who is competent, affordable and of course, trustworthy.
Typically a half hour private lesson will cost about $35 a session. To make any real progress that will need to be one a week every week for perhaps a year or more. So a dollar commitment of $1600 a year is likely.
Of course you could try guitar lessons for kids out of a book. However a book or a video is unlikely to take anyone, let alone a youngster very far. After an initial burst of enthusiasm, nine people out of ten will park that book or video in a cupboard for ever more. End of lessons. Money wasted.

Vintage Fruit and Vegetable Crate and Can Labels Now Appreciated As Art and Home Decor
Beautiful, funny and sometimes racy, fruit and vegetable labels were created to catch the eye of American consumers in the produce department. Beginning in the late 1800′s farmers and merchants used artwork of colorful fruits and exotic vegetables to entice customers into buying their product. Before becoming available as framed art, some cooks framed their favorite labels and hung them in kitchens and restaurants. Today labels are collected for their beauty and are exhibited at museums around the Untied States.
Some early can labels even had gold foil and used expensive embossed papers. Larger labels, known as crate labels were glued to the ends of produce crates as they were shipped out of the fields to market. Artist created sun drenched landscapes and used bright colors to make their produce stand out. Drawing on the romance of the Old West, some brands had names like Bronco, Western Queen and Majestic.
Gods and royalty are represented in vintage stone lithograph labels against dramatic landscapes. On one advertising label, Triton the sea god sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Washington state. In other art, glowing oranges are set against romantic sunsets and bright red strawberries tumble over a serene California farmland. Giant artichokes floating over choppy seas and tomato ranches grace other labels. Visit http://www.MomsRetro.com to see examples of more retro crate label art.
Today, vintage crate label artwork is still found in modern kitchens except it is kept on the wall. This early form of advertising art is perfect for the kitchen and adds a retro touch of home to offices. And it just might help us to remember to eat our apple a day.

Vintage Christmas Decorations
Whether you love over-the-top elegance, warm homespun charm, sleek modernism or campy fun, there’s nothing like vintage Christmas decorations to make your holidays special.
You don’t need a big budget or a huge collection of pricey antiques to bring a vintage touch to your holiday decorating. Though some authentic pieces from the era of your choice can definitely set a tone, you can fill your home with period charm, beauty, and fun without breaking the bank. There a world of reproduction ornaments from which to choose, and you can add your own hand-crafted touches at almost no cost at all.
Start by taking the little quiz below to determine what era to go for:
When I think of Christmas decorations, I think of
a. traditional grown-up elegance, with lots of baubles, bangles, and beads
b. homey, touchable, kid-friendly style with a natural touch
c. funny, campy, fantasy fun with a modern edge
My ideal Christmas tree would be decorated with
a. porcelain angels, beaded satin ornaments, velvet ribbon, shimmering pearls, and lace
b. handmade wooden ornaments, strings of popcorn, and personal mementos
c. candy, tinsel, bright glass balls, bubble lights, and cute character ornaments
I think the best colors for Christmas are
a. deep gem tones with loads of gleaming silver and gold
b. traditional red and green, with white accents and lots of natural wood tones
c. as bright as possible
My idea of a great Christmas gathering would be
a. a lavish, multi-course meal served on china and crystal
b. cocoa and cookies with close friends and family
c. a cocktail party
If your answers were mostly a’s: Victorian Christmas Decorations are your perfect style. Lush, lavish, and downright decadently elegant, they’re the epitome of holiday glamor. The “less is more” modern aesthetic is a million miles away from this regal, multi-layered look, so if you’re a “more is more!” type of person, a Victorian theme is what you’re looking for.
If your answers were mostly b’s: the warm, family-oriented simplicity of homespun pioneer decorations are ideal for you. Some well-chosen handmade ornaments serve as accents to the natural beauty of live green pine boughs, colorful, fragrant fruit, and the glow of a crackling fire. The emphasis is all on the natural, the touchable, and the personal.
If your answers were mostly c’s: The glitzy fun of mid-century modern decorations would suit you to a T. Bubble lights, cartoon character ornaments, and unapologetically artificial tinsel trees lit by revolving color wheels will whisk you to the stylish holidays of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Exquisite And Durable Vintage Wood Flooring For Your Home
Exquisite vintage wood floors, available in plank as well as strip flooring, not only add to the grandeur but also add to the durability of your wooden flooring. Cut from the reclaimed joists, decking, and timbers, vintage wood floors provide an environmentally friendly option to give a face lift to your floors.
Reclaimed wood floors are more alluring and sturdier than traditional wood flooring. Salvaged from the 19th century buildings, factories, warehouses, mills, grain elevators, barns, and wooden dams across the United States, the reclaimed wood has a character of it’s own that can never be found in new timber.
What’s more, the reclaimed timber beams and flooring are available at incredibly low prices. Thanks to the online reclaimed wood companies for making rich species of reclaimed timber beams, (including Douglas Fir, Maple, Antique Oak, Elm, Heart Pine, Hickory, and more) available at affordable costs. The reason why these online resources are able to offer rich woods at lower costs is that they don’t set up a retail facility and hire extensive staff. The saving, thus, is passed on to the customers.
Many of these resources also offer Mill Direct facility that is shipping of antique wood products right from their saw mills, factories, and demolition sites to customers. Furthermore, you can choose from Hand Hewn, Plain Sawn, and Rough Sawn beams. You can also order custom millwork for reclaimed timber.
Besides providing you a wide variety of reclaimed wood, these online resources also assist you throughout the process of decision making. You just need to send an email to them indicating the products you are interested in. They have experts to guide you about the latest designs and styles.
Since most of these reclaimed wood companies regularly ship internationally, you can expect your ordered products to be delivered in minimum possible time. What’s more, you can ask for a sample of few of your chosen products such as floorings.
Before you place an order online, it’s recommended that you check the online reclaimed wood company is a member of the reputed agencies such as USGBC (the United States Green Building Council) and NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) etc.
Vintage Auto Salvage Yards
For a classic car restorer or enthusiast, restoration is an exacting business. For a correct, accurate restoration, original parts are the only thing that will do. For pre-1980 Detroit cars, that particular job has been getting harder and harder. Owner’s clubs and eBay have made some of those parts more accessible, but just imagine trying to run down a windshield wiper motor for a ’66 Oldsmobile or a taillight bezel or rear deck valance for a ’68 Plymouth Barracuda. For years now, it’s almost been easier to run down parts for long-extinct makes like Packard, Hudson or Studebaker; at least there are parts networks through owner’s clubs that can help an enthusiast locate and buy miscellaneous parts for such long-gone cars.
The crushers claimed most of that old American iron years ago, as salvage yard operators saw more money in the scrap metal itself rather than parting out the cars. And as time goes on and the two-door, muscle car and convertible models become scarcer, even pickup trucks, station wagons and four-door sedans are becoming valuable and desirable for restorers.
Luckily for the classic car enthusiast, there are salvage yards that cater specifically to their needs, with hundreds of acres of pre-1980 cars and trucks that are in various stages of completeness. In some cases, a yard will sell the entire car in partially restored, rolling-body or full-restoration condition. Other cars might be sold part by part, or sold in partial, unrestorable condition.
States like New Mexico, Texas or Arizona are home to plenty of great vintage auto salvage yards; Southwestern cars are much less prone to be attacked by rust and the elements. The flip side of that, however, is that the hot, arid climate of the Southwest is more likely to wreak havoc in the form of sun damage to upholstery, rubber, upholstery and dashboards. Salvage yards for vintage cars are now networked together through salvage auctions, so that the days of road tripping for hundreds of miles to find salvage yards with the right cars are nearly over. By the same token, not too many people are still trying to finesse a crusty farmer whose ’68 Chevrolet pickup has been languishing in a barn for decades because “he’s planning on fixin ‘er up someday.”
Of course, you may wind up paying pretty good money for some of the rarer parts. But then again, there was a time not that long ago when no one would have thought a ’73 Chevy BelAir sedan would be a desirable collector’s car. Like everything else, it’s a matter of current trends among collectible cars. In some respects, this is a better climate for restorers of classic cars and hobbyists than we’ve ever seen before. Once it’s easier to locate the parts themselves, you can turn your attention to issues like how to make the hidden headlights on that ’68 Cougar work properly, or how to route all the vacuum lines and wiring on your ’70 Buick Electra so that the power windows, locks and mirrors all work just as well as they did when they rolled off the lot.
